Gmail now offers a new feature which allows you to make free calls to landlines and cell phones in the U.S. and Canada. If there ever was a reason to keep an updated contact list in Gmail, this is most likely it. With this out, things aren’t looking so good for Skype, the leading company in this area of VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) who charges for this feature.
According to their blog, “Calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at our very low rate”, the only question is how long will they make these calls free. I must say, Google is definitely on the right track for world domination.
